THE SLIPS...'MAKE IT OUT ALRIGHT'

We've been dancing around the house to this one for a while and loving it!
Happily the day has finally come for it's release.
Crank it up and tell us what you think...

UK bred, Australian-based duo The Slips, who joined EMI’s local roster last year, are thrilled to reveal their new single ‘Make It Out Alright’ featuring Bossy Love
(Amandah Wilkinson of Operator Please fame).

Having cut their teeth as studio engineers in London, working with the likes of No Doubt, New Order and Bjork among others, The Slips’ David Treahearn and Rob Haggett decided to relocate to the warmer climes of Australia last year. Their latest offering, recorded at their Rushcutters Bay studio, is a slick, summer anthem about transcending the banality of common life in the company of someone special. "We were kind of looking for collaborations” says Treahearn, “because we were really keen to work with different people, it's just a really good way to get a different perspective on things”.

Not only have The Slips supported Kasabian, Pnau, Friendly Fires and Alex Metric, they also scored coveted European festival slots at The Great Escape, O2 Wireless, Glastonbury and more. 2012 has seen the duo establish themselves as staples on the local music scene, working on production for Bertie Blackman, Faker and Kate Miller-Heidke, plus remixing tracks by Missy Higgins, Kimbra and Gotye;  they took the ubiquitous "Somebody That I Used To Know" and transformed it from a sombre break-up reflection into a cathartic release of physical tension. They picked up Missy Higgins's "Unashamed Desire" and reduced it to its most basic components, stripping it of its piano-driven balladry and surrounding it with lingering, atmospheric pulses. They snuffed the rock'n'roll rumble of Ladyhawke's "Sunday Drive" and brought it into the 28th century with a piercing synth line.  This remix work is on top of an impressive body of international mixes for acts such as CSS, The XX, Ellie Goulding, Yuksek and a remix for Bjork which she personally selected for her upcoming remix album.

The Slips are a formidable triple threat: talented producers, trained musicians, and massive, electric performers. With the ability to play just about any instrument thrown at them, their experience in the studio, and an unparalleled ear for melody, The Slips look set to take over your summer.

Don’t miss The Slips LIVE at Sydney’s Upstairs Beresford on Saturday 29 September.
